About the Author

As long as he can remember, Brian Moriarty has been drawn to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Although he resides in Cleveland, Ohio, he has been traveling to the Lowcountry every year since the seventies, first with his parents and now with his wife, Ellen, and their children. He works as an attorney but has a deep love for music, animals, and nature. This love inspired him to write his first children’s book, Magnolia Rising, in collaboration with his family. In this increasingly complicated world, the story of Maggie and Aster is an important lesson on a few of life’s core teachings and values—believe in yourself and the power of friendship. In the sandy marsh off the coast, Maggie and Aster’s adventures teach us that even the smallest of creatures, with a little help from their friends, can change the world.
